Describe The Function of TCP/IP Protocol in easy words

TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol. It is the communication protocol used for Internet and similar networks such as Internet and Extranet. It controls and manages the data transmission over the Internet. It also defines a mechanism through which every computer on the Internet is identified separately. Every computer on the Internet must have this protocol.

TCP/IP manages the transmission of data on the Internet by breaking the data into small pieces called packets. Each packet contains actual data and address part i.e. addresses of destination and source.

TCP/IP consists of two layers, higher layer and lower layer. TCP is called higher layer, while IP is called lower layer.
  • Higher Layers (TCP) breaks message or file into smaller packets that are transmitted over the Internet. It also reassembles the packets into the original message that are received from Internet.
  • Lower Layer (IP) handles the address part of each packet so that it can be transmitted to the right destination. Each gateway on the network checks this address to see where to forward the message.
TCP/IP software may be different for different computers but it always presents the same interface to the network. Different types of computer can share information among them. For example, a personal computer can exchange data with a mainframe on the Internet by using TCP/IP.

Sometimes life is so unfair and has a lot of challenges to take but it doesn't
mean it is already the end of the world. We struggle and experienced those things
for us to become strong, aware, and responsible of our actions. Thanks for
sharing such a wonderful story.I hope that you can inspire more people.
